Adult Christian Education

SUMC offers many small groups in which adults can grow together spiritually. Whether you are starting out on your spiritual journey or you have already traveled a long way, SUMC has a group for you.

Adult Sunday School

All Sunday school classes meet from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m.

  • Awake to Christ's Calling Class (Room 205) - We are a caring and welcoming group of women from a variety of backgrounds, age groups, and life experiences.  We come together each week to build Christian frienships and nurture one another in our faith journeys and relationship with Christ through reflection, casual conversation and Christian Discipleship.  To share this exciting journey with you would be a blessing.  For additional information, please talk with our group facilitators Cindy Mannucci or Amy Payne, or just come by and join us on Sunday morning.

  • Explorer's Class (Room 210) - Join us in studying Rich Christians in an Age of Hunger: Moving from Affluence to Generosity by Ronald Sider.  Just what is the Gospel's message to us as the richest people of Earth?  Sider includes practical information to remake our giving in tune with God's will. Bill Pate, leader.

  • Open Doors Class (Room 114) - Are you interested in discussing hot news topics and current events from a Christian perspective? The starting point for the conversation most weeks comes from "The Wired Word," which sends out a topic with discussion points in advance of class for those who want to read up. Most importanly, this class is designed to be a risk free environment in which to share, regardless of your religious background. There is no long-term curriculum, so stop by and check out the class any Sunday. For more information, contact Jay Barr (jaybarr@live.com).

  • The Seekers Class (Room 209) - Are studying the Book of Daniel.  This is an exciting book full of faith and courage, mystery and miracles, factual history and dreams, visions and prophecy.  You are invited to join us on Sunday morning at 9:15 am in Room 209.
